Internationally acclaimed composer A.R. Rahman has recorded a 30-minute exclusive performance in support of Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign, AAPI Victory Fund announced.
Rahman’s endorsement is seen as a strategic move to rally the South Asian community and highlight the growing role of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters in the upcoming election.
The performance, which will be broadcast on AAPI Victory Fund’s YouTube channel, will also air on major South Asian networks such as AVS and TV Asia. This effort is aimed at mobilizing support for the Harris-Walz ticket among South Asian voters in the U.S. and around the world.
“With this performance, A.R. Rahman has added his voice to a chorus of leaders and artists who are standing up for progress and representation in America,” said Shekar Narasimhan, chairman of the AAPI Victory Fund. “This is more than just a musical event—it’s a call to action for our communities to engage and vote for the future we want to see.”
The performance will feature some of Rahman’s most well-known tracks, interwoven with messages that emphasize Kamala Harris’s historic candidacy and her commitment to the AAPI community.
Rahman’s involvement adds a high-profile endorsement to a campaign that is increasingly focusing on engaging minority communities in the run-up to the 2024 election.
