Indian billionaires Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s youngest son, Anant Ambani, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant, were once again in the spotlight with their second pre-wedding celebrations.
Following the grand event in Jamnagar, Gujarat, the couple set out for an extravagant three-day celebration aboard a luxury cruise, which covered a picturesque 4,380-kilometre journey from Italy to France.
Lavish cruise itinerary
The luxury cruise, costing a whopping US$ 900 million (approximately INR 7,509.39 crores), boasted all luxurious amenities, including spas, swimming pools, gyms, and more.
The celebration, titled “La Vita E Un Viaggio” (Life is a Journey), was a luxurious and adventurous experience from May 28 to June 1. The festivities included a ‘Starry Night’ gala a tour of Rome, a Greco-Roman ‘Toga Party, a masquerade ball in Cannes, final day celebrations in Portofino, Italy.
Culinary delights
The menu for the pre-wedding celebration was as grand as the event itself. Reports indicated a diverse selection of cuisines, including North Indian, Gujarati, Parsi, Italian, and French dishes. Given the cruise's route from Italy to France, a significant emphasis on Italian and French cuisines was expected. The Bengaluru famous Rameshwaram Cafe provided premium South Indian dishes, adding a taste of home for the guests.
Star-studded guest list
Several Bollywood celebrities, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, MS Dhoni, Salman Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Janhvi Kapoor, were spotted departing for the festivities.
Guest performers
Following Rihanna's spectacular performance at the first pre-wedding extravaganza, South African DJ Black Coffee and the iconic American boy band Backstreet Boys performed for VIP guests, adding to the festivities. Pop star Katy Perry performed her hit songs at the event, videos of which soon went viral.
Previous Celebrations in Jamnagar
The couple's first pre-wedding celebration in March in Jamnagar, Gujarat, was a lavish affair costing US$ 119.8 million (INR 1,000 crore). It featured a star-studded guest list, including Bollywood luminaries like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, alongside international celebrities such as Rihanna, and notable figures like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.
Upcoming Wedding
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding is scheduled for July 12, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, as per traditional Hindu Vedic rituals. The event is anticipated to be another grand affair, continuing the series of high-profile celebrations leading up to the couple's marriage.
