Actress, producer, and businesswoman Alia Bhatt has joined Prime Video as an executive producer for the upcoming Amazon original series Poacher.

The series, directed and written by Emmy-winning filmmaker Richie Methta, is set to exclusively premiere on February 23 globally.  Based on real-life occurrences, Poacher is an investigative crime series that finds the biggest ivory poaching network in Indian history.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, Poacher unites the entertainment and environmental conservation industries with the goal of drawing attention to unlawful poaching, a major global issue. The series features a skilled and varied cast with key characters played by Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

Talking about coming onboard for Poacher, Bhatt shared, “Being part  of this incredibly significant project is an honor, for both me and the entire team at Eternal Sunshine  Productions. The impact of Poacher was deeply personal, and Richie’s portrayal of the urgent issue of  wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team. The storytelling genuinely moved me,  especially knowing it's based on true events, that sheds light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests.”

“I am confident that Poacher will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more  compassionate and considerate towards all living beings. It's a call to embrace coexistence and I am  genuinely thrilled to be collaborating with Richie, QC and Prime Video and to contribute to this  narrative,” she further added.

Bhatt, a well-known and internationally acclaimed artist, is also regarded as a naturalist who has actively advocated for sustainability and conservation. Her role as executive producer for Poacher's production firm, Eternal Sunshine Productions, highlights her commitment to telling meaningful and timely tales and serving as a voice for the underprivileged.

“Her involvement in this series helps raise awareness for the  important issues addressed in the show. The most important of which is, we are all one interconnected  humanity and planet. It’s crucial that we treat it with the respect and consideration it deserves,” said  QC principals Hamm, Mansfield & McKittrick.

In addition to her career in film, Alia is deeply committed to promoting awareness of important issues through her platform, Coexist, including animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and reducing conflict between humans and animals. Moreover, she supports eco-friendly fashion with her Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe project.
