Ajay Bhutoria spearheads recommendation to boost AANHPI small businesses

His recommendation involves the creation of a data hub with business resources on the federal agency's website

Ajay Bhutoria, advisor to President Biden for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Affairs has put forward a recommendation to provide an impetus to AANHPI small businesses.

The recommendation that was put forward during the recent White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) Commission meeting calls for a simplified method for AANHPI small businesses to access critical financial resources.

According to the plan, the Small Business Administration (SBA) should serve as the principal intermediary by creating a specific area on its website to collect data pertaining to federal loans, grants, and other resources. The data should be regularly updated to keep entrepreneurs informed about changes in program offerings, application deadlines, and eligibility criteria.

Additionally, Bhutoria recommended that the data be made available in multiple languages to enhance accessibility and inclusivity, owing to the diversity in the AANHPI community.

"Our vibrant AANHPI small business community is a cornerstone of our nation's economic tapestry. This recommendation is a strategic move to provide them with accessible pathways for financial support, fostering growth, innovation, and economic prosperity within our diverse communities," he said.

The proposal drew overwhelming support from the gathering, which was comprised of 24 members. The proposal will next be forwarded to President Biden for swift implementation by the Small Business Administration (SBA) agency.
