Airbus, IIM Mumbai partner to enhance aviation education

Airbus has inked a landmark collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai to provide a crucial boost to India’s aviation industry.

The partnership, formalized through a contract signed by Prof. Manoj K Tiwari, director of IIM Mumbai, and Rémi Maillard, president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia, aims to redefine aviation education in the country.

Under this initiative, IIM Mumbai will roll out specialized short-term courses tailored to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving aviation landscape, a statement by Airbus informed.

Covering a wide array of critical areas, including aviation logistics, supply chain management, operations excellence, cargo handling, strategic procurement, business analytics, and digitization, these courses will equip professionals with the requisite skills to excel in the industry.

Commenting on the collaboration, Rémi Maillard emphasized the pivotal role of skill development in propelling growth, reaffirming Airbus’s unwavering commitment to nurturing India’s aviation sector. He underscored the joint endeavor’s potential to cultivate a robust talent pipeline, thereby bolstering the industry’s competitiveness on a global scale.

“Through this partnership with IIM-Mumbai, we are combining our expertise and resources to create comprehensive programmes that will help advance the future of aerospace education and skilling in India. This will further support in creating a strong pipeline of industry-ready talent for the aviation sector in the country,” Maillard said.

In alignment with Airbus’s vision, Manoj K Tiwari also expressed enthusiasm for the strategic partnership, hailing it as a significant milestone in aviation management development.

“I am confident that this collaboration will immensely benefit professionals in the aviation sector and those seeking opportunities in India's burgeoning aviation industry, providing them with invaluable skills and insights to excel in this exciting field,” Tiwari added.

As part of the agreement, IIM Mumbai will oversee course organization, student enrollment, and logistical support, while Airbus will contribute its wealth of resources by providing trainers and training materials sourced from the Airbus beyond catalogue.

The collaboration is poised to evolve over time, encompassing the co-creation of long-term courses and the certification of trainers. It will further promote sustained skill enhancement and capability building within the aviation ecosystem.
