The New England chapter of the American India Foundation (AIF), announced that it will honor Indian-origin executive, Naveen Wadhera, during its Gala that is scheduled to take place on May 11 at the Renaissance Waterfront Hotel in Boston.

A managing director at Boston-based global private equity firm TA Associates, Wadhera, will be recognized for his efforts in co-founding the chapter and spearheading its early efforts.

Since joining TA Associates in 2001, Wadhera co-founded its Europe business in 2003, founded its Asian investment business in 2008, and shaped its India office for several years.  Before TA, he served at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Asian Special Situations Group, Accretive LLC, and Broadview International of Mergers and Acquisitions.

A University of Pennsylvania graduate, Wadhera also co-founded the university’s famous acapella group Penn Masala. The group recently made headlines for performing AR Rehman's iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ to welcome PM Modi at the White House in June 2023.

A statement from AIF noted that Wadhera's philanthropic efforts are largely focused on education. He currently serves on the board of the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, London. He is married to Geetu, an early AIF volunteer.

The American India Foundation is a US and India-based nonprofit committed to improving the lives of India’s underprivileged, with a special focus on women, children, and youth. It has raised over US $20 million so far from the New England community to fund programs across India focused on education, livelihoods, and public health, according to a statement.
